Equipment consists of 4 Windows computers and 2 Macintosh computers. Maximum of 4 people per class ensures customization. Classroom is about 10 minutes from Temecula, Escondido, and Oceanside.

Template Design

IDEAS provides complete template design services for all popular page-layout programs, including InDesign, FrameMaker, QuarkXPress, and Microsoft Publisher. Much needs to go into making a good template:

• Master pages possibly with a grid system; based-on master pages if applicable
• Standardized colors
• Paragraph and Character styles
• Table and Cell styles if applicable
• Object/Item styles
• Library items to hold reusable objects
• PDF export presets
• Print presets

Of course, CREATING a template is quite different than USING a template. Using a template would include:

• Placing text or entering new text
• Applying correct styles to text
• Importing photos and art
• Cropping and positioning photos
• Text runaround Using Item styles
• Using Library items
• Making PDFs

Then you have work-flow issues:

For example, do you build the publication as one document or split it up? This would greatly depend on how the printer would like to receive the publication and how one uses the publishing program. Also, will editors be using specialized programs such as Adobe InCopy or Quark CopyDesk?
